Mr Sjoquist, I just wanted to let you know that I am reading this blog time to time. It has, in fact, inspired me in some ways; mainly how you set goals then keep plugging away. Those are two areas that I've been struggling with more this semester.
I just wanted you to know that, even though we're not in the same state very often anymore, you are still making a positive impact on me.
Thank you, again, very much.

[I tried to comment earlier, so my apologies if this becomes a double comment.]

This particular word bit:
"People talk about community in a lot of areas of life, but this past week in Denver, I experienced it professionally — and it was great. I met people of all levels of experience in iPhone development, and to a person, each was willing to freely talk about technical, professional, and business ideas with no real consideration of what was in it for them. "

Struck a chord with John and I.

See, when we did the first show, we realized that we would lose money. We also realized that show #2 wouldn't make a killing either. However, we felt we HAD to do it because we needed to get the community together. We wonder if this altruistic thinking somehow permeates the spirit of the show and surfaces in all attendees and speakers. Because it just seems odd that we have that at our shows and others seem not to.
